Brockweir Storm Petrel and I had another successful day at the Hampshire Gundog Society Special Puppy Working test on Saturday 15th May 2010 at Sussex Game Farm. We were placed 2nd with a score of 114 out of 120.
There were six tests set consisting of:
Test 1 – A walked up with two dogs, a shot was fired to the left with no dummy thrown and then another shot up ahead with a marked retrieve.
Test 2 – This was a hunting test with heel work with no shot. You had to walk away at heel from where the dummies were and then walk back to the spot which you stared from and then send your dog to pick both dummies one at a time.
Test 3 – Mark in water fairly close to where you were standing.
Test 4 – Blind down the track which pulled to the right and the dummy was in a long patch of grass just before the bend.
Test 5 – Blind through field over a small ditch and the dummy was just over the other side of the ditch.
Test 6 – Mark over water onto a bank/island.
Brockweir Storm Petrel achieved all of his tests and we then found ourselves in a run off with Keith Broomfield and his dog Kaliture Black Spruce for 2nd place. This was a mark with shot across some rough ground. There was also a run off for 4th place with the same mark.
The placing were:
1st Endacott Plover and Mrs AP Courtier
2nd Brockwier Storm Petrel and Sarah Forwood
3rd Kaliture Black Spruce and Keith Broomfield
4th Cadover Bronze and Bob Marcham
COM Myrtle Lodge Cockerel and J White
Well done to everyone and thanks to the Hampshire Gundog Society, Judges and Helpers for an enjoyable day.
